I was a little nervous starting it directly in pen, but I'm using one of the pens that are starting to wear out, so my first lines weren't all that dark, plus he isn't anyone I know so I didn't have to worry about getting a likeness, although I think it does look like him. I have saved a few other photos from the reference library to do portraits from.
