I'm participating in one of the Strathmore online workshops this month. I did this sketch/drawing for Lesson 2 on tone and shape, with emphasis on shading and drawing ellipses. I procrastinated a lot about starting, and ended up with a cloudy day with not too much light coming in my kitchen window. And my stonewear is black, brown, and off white, which made using tone with a pencil a bit challenging, but I think I nailed it. A couple of my ellipses are a little off - more noticeable in looking at the scan than when I was doing the actual drawing. Here is my "Sugar and Creamer" done with #2B and #4B Derwent sketching pencils.
Beautiful blog and artwork!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Celia.
ReplyDeleteMichelle, who came first with the art? You or Joan? I see many similarities in your styles and I love it! Your colors are gorgeous, your drawings wonderful!
ReplyDeleteMickey, your shading came out really nicely on this...good highlights too. Glad to see that Celia came over for a visit.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Joan.
ReplyDeleteCrimsonLeaves, I'm older by about 4 1/2 years, so I'm sure that I picked up a pencil and some crayons first. LOL! I can't remember not doing some form of art. Not sure which one of us started working with watercolors first - I think we both experimented with them at various times when we were younger, but I didn't really seriously get into it until about 1989. I'm not as prolific as Joan.
Michelle - this drawing is super. I so find vases, glasses, cups, etc. with ellipses so difficult. Yours look great. Thanks so much for sharing.
