Sketching at The Gardens

I sketched these two page spreads today at The Gardens in Wyckoff.  It was a little too early - most of the roses and peonies were just starting to get buds.  But there were a few early bloomers, and some flag irises.  I haven't been there in a few years, but I'll have to plan another trip soon.  It's really a great place to sketch flowers.

  1. Very pretty page spreads, Michelle. Almost like a garden book in the making.

  2. Nice sketches of the flowers!! I like the white rose and the peony buds. You should definitely go back. Is it a nursery or a park? I've been painting lots of irises lately.

  3. I guess you would call it a little park, Joan. Mostly roses, but there are peonies and flag irises, and at one time there were some poppies. I think you came with me there once a long time ago. I keep forgetting it's there, or remembering and going too late in the summer for the roses to be at peak.
